A Clumsy Encounter: Short marshmallow love story

This is my second short story. Please over look the mushy marshmallow-ness, as I am working on another more substantial one with more” realistic” characters. Enjoy!

It was a blustery Fall day in Wisconsin. Charlotte had just finished up a meeting with the Christian fellowship group at her college. They discussed an upcoming college bake sale to raise some funds for tracts to be used in reaching out to the students. She stopped by the campus coffee shop to grab herself a warm mocha-cino to help fight the chill. Before her meeting with the group, she also had a class for interior design earlier in the day.

Charlotte was ready to get home and relax after such a long and busy day. Some time with her Bible and a little HGTV would help her recuperate before she had to work on a project for school.
She headed out into the parking lot carrying her hot coffee drink, her cell phone and a couple of her books that wouldn’t fit into her backpack.
The wind had a particularly biting chill today, and she was eager to get into her car and blast the heat.
Just then, her cozy thoughts were interrupted with a jarring collision that brought her back to reality.
Her coffee sloshed a bit onto her sweater and her books were now on the ground. A soft male voice exclaimed “Oh shoot! I am so sorry, I wasn’t looking!” Once her thoughts cleared, she looked down and saw a guy at her feet picking up her books and cell phone which she had dropped. “Oh! it-it’s no problem!” she managed to stutter out as she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear that had come out of her headband. She saw him look up at her with warm brown eyes and instanltly felt uneasy in a strange way. He was quite cute and she was sure she saw this guy in school before. She knelt down to help but he had already gathered her books into his hands and was inspecting her cellphone for damage. “I didn’t hurt you did I?, are you Okay?” he asked nervously. “Yes, yes I am fine.” she reassured hesitantly. “Just spilled a little coffee on my sweater but nothing the wash won’t remove.” “oh thank goodness.” he said. “Oh my name is Travis. I was just heading into class and was running a little late when I ran into you. What’s your name if you don’t mind me asking?”
“I’m Charlotte, or Charlie for short. Thank you for helping me with my books.” “Oh no problem, I was the one who made you drop them!” he replied. “Mind if I walk you to your car? it’s very cold today.” he offered. Sure, I am shivering and can’t wait to get that heat cranked up. Charlie nervously replied. As they approached her car, the guy asked her if she would like to meet him for dinner after his class. “sure!” she exclaimed almost regretting it as she had her heart set on that quiet evening with her Bible. I’ll be done about 7 pm. He said. “Sounds great!” said Charlie.
A few hours later they both met at a small cafe. They began talking and Travis mentioned that he saw her a couple times at the christian campus fellowship group meetings. “Oh, are you a part of that group too?” She asked. He answered “yes somewhat, I am not in the group itself but I help promote it to students. “How wonderful!” she exclaimed. “ I help with the fundraising and I am a part of the board.” She then mentioned that she must have seen him during the get togethers of the whole group when he was hanging posters and handing out fliers about the group’s events. Each went back to sipping their coffees. There was a period of silence between the two, which became delightfully awkward as they simply looked at each other. She always found this guy cute when she saw him. He had a warm inviting smile, big, almost afro-like curly brown hair and glasses. without thinking she said “You know I am glad you ran into me today..” “oops!” she chirped, suddenly aware that her thoughts were audible.
Travis had a surprised and delighted look on his face when he realized what she had just said. Correcting herself she added “Wait,no, what-what I meant to say was it is nice getting to know you better.” she said trying to sound less giddy.
He then reached out and put his hand over hers in an attempt to save her from her self-analyzing. He chuckled. “I’m glad I ran into you too, Charlie.” he said with a wink. “You know, I’ve always found you quite pretty when I first saw you with the group, doing what you do best.” I’ve wanted to speak to you but you are always so busy doing all the fundraising and planning. At this, she blushed and started nervously stirring her iced coffee. “Why, thanks. I haven’t been told that often.”

If you too feel this way, I’d love to continue getting to know you better. He offered. “Sure that sounds nice to me.” she replied. He then said “Then I shall seal our promise.” He leaned forward and gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. Charlie froze when he did and blushed so bright that a farm-fresh tomato would be jealous. Travis only gave a wry smile in reply to her reaction. Finishing their drinks, He offered to walk her to her car and then the two exchanged friendly hugs and then made plans to go to church service together on Sunday. And thus, a new love began by a simple clumsy encounter.

A Gift of love (short Romantic story)

Caswyn watched as the Knights sparred competitively on the training field. She always looked forward to this time of year when the tournament came around. She loved to stand beside the armor tents just out of sight watching the men practice battling.
One knight in particular was her favorite. He was tall in comparison to her; he was very handsome with a well chiseled jaw line and nose. His arms were powerful and he had large hands.

She observed him swing his huge claymore to block and parry his opponents’ blows and attacks, each time sending the rival knight buckling backwards against the force. Caswyn blushed shyly when contemplating his strength and prowess.

Suddenly the knights stopped fighting which was a sign that this training session was finished. Sir Trewen tossed his large broadsword to the ground and wiped his sweat soaked brow with the end of his red cloak. He started toward the armor tents, which sent Caswyn into a panic. She quickly turned and nearly tripped as she attempted to bolt. Her clumsy move knocked a nearby armor rack ajar causing Trewen to flick his gaze toward where she was. He peered inquisitively at the now empty spot beside the tents. Caswyn had a strong liking of Sir Trewen but was very shy and reserved. In addition, she felt unworthy of his attention if he were to ever give it to her, because she was a peasant with no royal bloodline, while Trewen was one of the King’s knights. Caswyn’s escape was successful and she was able to evade the knight’s sight for now. He quickly turned away intent on getting refreshment for his parched mouth.

Caswyn stayed low to the ground until she did not see Trewen anymore. She had an idea of how she might be able to speak to him. Caswyn then headed straight for the marketplace to pick up some sort of gift or trinket he might find worthy. She grasped her coin pouch and browsed the vendors. Some were selling expensive cloaks and tunics, others sold bronze wares, dishes and chalices, While many sold food and spices. A small dragon shaped brooch caught Caswyn’s eye. She ran over and asked the merchant: “Sir, how much for yon dragon brooch?” The merchant replied “yon brooch will be 20 shillings.” Caswyn dug into her pouch and took out all of her coin. “Will this do?” she asked. The merchant scratched his chin and nodded. “sure that should do.” He took her money and handed her the brooch. It was smooth, made of hammered bronze. She held it and took a look at it closely. She prayed that it would be a worthy token of affection for Trewen. She rushed through the crowd of shoppers toward the practice field. She scanned the field for the knight but strangely did not see him. Then all of a sudden she felt someone behind her, turning around abruptly only to find Sir trewen towering over her. “Greetings, fair maiden.” he said calmly and smoothly. His voice sent her hurtling to the ground, landing on her rear, heart racing like a warhorse running toward battle. she took a few seconds to catch her consciousness and her vision slowly cleared. Trewen then leaned forward and lent her his hand. “well young lass, are you going to speak or did I scare you so?” Caswyn gulped. “y- yes Sir.” she managed. “I am much sorry.” Trewen laughed. “no needeth to be sorry ” he said “it seemeth I am the one who shouldst be sorry to thee”

Caswyn allowed a small smile. “indeed.” she said “thou literally giveth me a heart seizure.” Do you always sneak up on people like that?

“Not always.” he said in all seriousness. “Just the maiden who seemeth to fancy watching me practice.” Immediately aware that he knew she watched him she blushed. “Oh!” she exclaimed suddenly.

“ I have but a small gift for you. “ “A Gift?” He raised one eyebrow inquisitively. “Ye-yes, its right here!” She dug into her pouch and pulled the small brooch out of it. The bronze piece with the intricately detailed dragon caught Trewen’s eye. The dragon held in its foreclaws a large sword. “I much fancy it miss!” He exclaimed and held out his hand. She nervously dropped the brooch into it. Unsure what to say for her words were still failing her, she simply gazed upward at his face. He was indeed more handsome up close than she had realized when observing him from afar. She was perplexed at his attractiveness. He had a ruggedness about him that was tempered by nobility. His face looked as if it had been sculpted by a skilled craftsman, and indeed it had been by The Lord. His height went a good 5 inches above hers which forced her to look up at him. She sat speechless staring at him for a good few seconds before he pulled her to him in a tight embrace. “Miss I believe your name has evaded me”. He said cooly, Wouldst thou please give me the honor in knowing it? She gasped and caught her breath. “its Ca-Caswyn!” she said a with a little too much emphasis. Trewen chuckled lightheartedly still clutching her in his arms. “Well, Ca-Caswyn, it is indeed most certainly a pleasure to meet your company.” “My name is Sir Trewen.” She of course caught his name many times while watching him on the field but she decided to play all the less knowing. “Trewen,” she said. “It is wonderful to know you bett-I mean know you as well.” He smiled mischievously. I Thank you for the gift lass, he told her. “But I must say I have nothing of such to give you I am afraid.” “The real shame is that such a piece had to have cost you all the coin you had.” he said regretfully, “However, I can give you this”. He said as he lifted her up into his arms and planted his lips onto hers in a kiss that to her seemed to last an eternity. She was breathless and truly believed she would faint for sure. He sat her on her feet again and she swerved. He said to her in a casual tone, “See, That’s all I have, miss, I doubt it came anywhere close to what you have given me.” She exclaimed breathlessly “No it is way better my lord!” He smiled and offered her his hand. “Caswyn, fairest, what dost thou say about accompanying me for my next training session, this time you can have a real view of the action, much better than behind a dodgy armor tent, aye?” Caswyn’s eyes widened. Of-of course my lord Trewen! She shrilled. She took his hand and he led her to the large open field near his training spot as they walked hand in hand together. Caswyn smiled thinking to herself how blessed she was to win the favor of Sir Trewen, and a kiss from him too.

The end.

Old Poetry/writing

The following are some old poems and writings I did a long while back. They are very heavily laden with emotions as a lot of my writing is. One is about a love that I lost, another about love that I found and one about Jesus Christ.

My Lord Jesus Christ.

You give my heart a reason to grow, you give my mind a the knowledge to know,
You make each day seem like a brand new life, each breath I take like my first,
You shelter me In Your arms when times seem the worst.

My lord Jesus Christ, you are always by my side,
through life’s journeys far and wide.
You take my hand and lead me into the unknown
Youre always there to let me know I’m not alone.

My sweet Lord, my Saviour, my comrade, my brother, my love..
You give me the power to truly know our father God above.

Portrait of a Broken Heart

June 2, 2009 at 1:13am
I sit here stunned and shocked, feeling the darkness that has come over me,
A chill, a pain that most can’t see;
sadness and dismay, the feeling I’ve been betrayed;
so strong and abundant
thoughts run the course within my mind, a vast array of confusion that renders me blind.
for a moment the pain shall subside and numbness ensues.
If left to a choice, this numbness would I choose.
But left with no choice on how I wanna feel, One thing that is always real, the thing that is apparent
evermore is God’s Love can heal a broken heart for sure.
The treasure I had first set out for, the jewel so precious I held once in my hand for a short time, that
jewel is no longer mine.
The treasure I speak of, I hope someday will find a keeper to treasure it in every way that I hoped and
prayed to be able to do, in every way I had promised to. but seasons change and time is rearranged and no
one but God holds the key.
The Key To why He brought together you and Me. the trials the hardships, the pains were only a fraction of
everything we gained.
To have held the treasure in my hands, for that little amount of time, and to have shared with you so many
things..makes everything worthwile..even the pains.

Love Is the Greatest Force on Earth,

Love has never been shy in proving it’s worth…It’s

something God instills in us all at birth.

Love is something like a flame, untamed and wild;

and like the joy of the smile on a child!

Love is as refreshing as a cool crisp breeze;

it has the power to bring you to your knees.

What it does to your heart, is what sets love apart from all other feelings we’ve got.

Love can’t be fabricated, dupliacted or taught…

It is as refreshing as a drop of warm summer rain…

Love is a power that can ease all pain.

it is the fragrance of a million roses so sweet, Love can be
relentless or subtle and discreet.

Love is the sweet sunshine, the snow in the wintertime, all of Life’s rhythm and rhyme,

Love is yours,
Love is mine,
Love is what I feel for you now, in the future and for all of our earthly time.
